June 17, 2016 - Trump Rally-Marriott Hotel-The Woodlands, TX
My friend Gerri and I decided to just go for it and go see Donald Trump in person when he came to The Woodlands, TX. The Marriott is about 3 miles from my house. With the help of my husband, we parked one of our cars not far from the Marriott about 12 noon. Gerri came to my house about 5:30 and my husband dropped us off not far from where the car was parked. We started walking toward the Marriott and noticed people passing us going in the opposite direct. Found out they were headed to the end of the line to get into the rally. Luckily, we had a very short walk to start our long wait-although it was probably a good 4 or more blocks to the entrance to the Marriott. We got to know the people around us. And what fun it was to people watch for the next 3 hours while slowly moving forward. And YES, it was hot especially the parts of the line that were in direct sunlight. Thankfully, it was shaded a good part of the way. Since no cameras with detachable lens were allowed, I took my little Sony Point and Shoot. I think it did a pretty good job capturing the flavor of the rally.
You may like Mr. Trump, or you maybe you can't stand the guy. I don't care. Just wanted to tell my story about what it was like to attend a Trump Rally in Texas June, 2016. And that's the way it is... :-)
We rounded the corner and are now on Six Pines Drive. Had no idea how long the line really was.
Great place for people watching. Seemed at times there as many people walking to the end of the line than the number of people already in line.
We finally made it to the walkway overpass.
Just another photo of the people in front of us.
Amazing people constantly walking by.
The police going into a driveway toward more secure area.
A taste of the security involved.
This is the back part of the building not far from where Trump will be on stage inside. Are they ready?
Another Security shot.
Now that's a Trump supporter for sure! :-) She selling hats and shirts.
Finally got to almost the corner of Six Pines and Lake Robbins. Not sure of how long, but it was in and out of the sun the whole way. Sure wish I had brought an umbrella or a scooter!!!
Whew! Made it to the turning point. Now on the home stretch. News helicopters overhead.
I think this is the people behind us after turning the corner.
In front of the conference center finally and then all of a sudden all the police came walking toward the front of the building. Trump must have been getting close.
The side of the conference center with all the security standing ready surrounding it.
Whew!!! We see the last turn ahead. Finally see the front of the Marriott.
Line of people, barriers and security.
Another view of the Marriott and the people in line ahead of us.
Our line was diverted behind a hedge. Here's the view of people outside the area just watching observing.
The line moving forward ahead of us.
Finally the main entrance to the Marriott.
Just some guy walking by with his very own flag.
Only in Texas...A BBQ cooker shaped like a gun being driven up and down the street at a Trump Rally.
